If your skip is staying on your own property—like a driveway in Bassett or a garden in Sholing—you don’t need a permit. However, if the skip needs to go on a public road, pavement, or grass verge, you must have a permit from Southampton City Council.
The law states that only the skip company (that’s us!) can apply for this permit. We handle the paperwork, pay the fee, and ensure your skip is delivered with the legally required safety lights and markers.
For 2026, a standard skip permit in Southampton costs £37.00 per week. If your project takes longer, we can renew the permit for an additional £37.00 weekly fee.
Pro-Saints Tip: If you are in a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) or a "Pay & Display" area like Portswood or the City Centre, the council may also charge a parking bay suspension fee (typically around £14.00 per day). We’ll let you know the exact costs during your booking.
If you have a driveway, we can often manage next-day or even same-day delivery. However, if you need a permit for the road, the council requires a minimum of 3 to 5 working days to approve the application. We recommend booking at least a week in advance for roadside skips in busy wards like Shirley or The Polygon to ensure your project stays on schedule.
To keep the Solent environment clean and follow UK waste laws, we cannot accept hazardous items. This includes:
Electricals (WEEE): TVs, fridges, monitors, and microwaves.
Hazardous Liquids: Wet paint, oils, chemicals, and fuel.
Specialist Waste: Asbestos, car tyres, and gas cylinders.
Upholstered Furniture (POPs): Due to 2026 regulations, sofas and padded chairs require special disposal.

If you can’t get a permit or space is too tight for a skip to sit overnight, our "Wait and Load" service is the perfect solution. We’ll park up, give you 30 minutes to fill the skip, and whisk it away immediately. No permit fees, no parking fines, and the waste is gone in half an hour!
